Meet our Chair, Dr. Cristy Page

Dr. Cristy PageCristen P. Page, MD, MPH, is the William B. Aycock Distinguished Professor and Chair of the Department of Family Medicine. A nationally recognized innovator, clinician and educator, Dr. Page is leading the department through a time of great growth and change.

An advocate for under-served and rural care, Dr. Page has developed pivotal programs to educate the next generation of family medicine physicians. She played a key role in the redesign of the UNC Family Medicine Center — which is now a highly functional, national model for primary care—and continues to advocate for constant innovation and improvement.

If you are unable to keep an appointment, please call us at 984-974-0210 as soon as possible to reschedule or cancel. We request at least 24 hours’ notice, and in consideration of others, those who repeatedly miss appointments without notice may be limited in their ability to schedule future appointments.

Insurance Plans

To ensure you can get the care you need, UNC Physician Network practices participate in a wide range of health plans and accepts most major insurance providers; however, it is important that you contact your insurance provider before receiving treatment to verify that you have full coverage. You should also determine your individual plan requirements regarding referrals, authorizations and co-pay/deductible amounts. View a list of our health plans accepted.

Lab Appointments and Information

Hours

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 8:15 AM- 7:00 PM
  • Wednesday 8:15 AM- 5:45 PM
  • Saturday 8:15 AM-12:00 PM

Lab only appointments are scheduled for the hours between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM- no afternoon or Saturday appointments can be scheduled, walk-in only. Lab appointments can only be scheduled by email once you leave UNC Family Medicine Center. We do not accept call-in lab appointments.

Directions

  • Lab patients getting tested for glucose (blood sugar) and cholesterol (lipids) should not eat anything after 10:00 PM the night before, or at least 8 hours prior to, your scheduled appointment. Be sure to drink plenty of water before your visit.
  • On the day of your appointment, please check-in at the Front Desk. Do not go directly to the Lab.
  • Anyone who is given a lab order form by their provider can make a lab only appointment, and should schedule it before leaving the Family Medicine Center

Prescriptions

To refill a prescription, call your pharmacy in advance. Please call at least 7 business days before you will run out of medication. The pharmacy’s telephone number and your prescription number are listed on the prescription package. Most prescriptions can be refilled by following this simple procedure.

Some medications require an office visit prior to refill. Examples that require an office visit include all controlled prescription medications (such as stimulants, opioids, and benzodiazepines), and any prescription medications if you have not had an appointment at the FMC within the last 12 months.

If an appointment is required, please schedule through My UNC Chart or call 984-974-0210 to make an appointment. Bring all current prescriptions and over-the-counter (OTC) medications with you for your doctor to review.
